- Create a *hidden* container whose parent is 'root'. In the content types, associate the story node with this container.
- Disable menu links for this container in the category_menu settings. Also disable the prev/next links and the ToC
- Create all your categories, choosing the hidden container as your parent
- Go to administer>>menus and create a new menu with the name 'Categories'
- On the same page, click on the edit link of each category you created and set its parent to the menu you just created.
- Once you are done, enable this menu at administer>>blocks. Before you enable the block and position it to left or right, click on the configure link and put the block where you want- select the 'Only on these pages" radio button and enter all the names of the categories you created, followed by*- for example, news*. Go back and enable the block.
- Follow the pathauto tutorial on category.greenash.net.au to set the correct pathauto settings for your set up. You need to install and enable both pathauto and category_pathauto modules before doing this.
- Post your stories. When you click on create content>>story, you will find all these categories to tag your post with. Your url alias will be created on the basis of the first category with which you tag the post.
